Bob Hogue joined the Pacific West Conference in July of 2007 as the
full-time commissioner of the league.
Hogue has more than 30 years of radio and television broadcasting experience and six years experience as a state senator in Hawai‘i.
In less than a year as the chief operating officer for the PacWest, Hogue has already refined policies and procedures, added baseball as the 11th conference sport, initiated the PacWest Magazine television and radio shows, and welcomed the addition of the Academy of Art University in San Francisco as the league's eighth institution.
In addition to his public service and media careers, Hogue is also a certified public accountant having earned his business degree from the University of Southern California.
He has a long background in the print and broadcast media mostly covering collegiate athletics and was a former collegiate student athlete who played baseball as a walk-on at USC during its national championship run of five titles in a row in the 1970s.
Hogue started his broadcasting career in college sports at the University of South Dakota as a color commentator for Coyote football. He then became the primary play-by-play announcer for the Iowa Television Network covering University of Iowa Hawekeye basketball and football on a five-station statewide television network.
His broadcasting experience also extended to University of California football, Sacramento State football and basketball, University of California-Davis football, and University of the Pacific football.
Locally, Hogue was a play-by-play announcer for Hawai‘i Pacific University and BYU-Hawaii, as well as the University of Hawai‘i, and he commentated on several Hawaii high school state championships, including football, basketball, volleyball, softball,and baseball, and he has reported on numerous Super Bowls and NCAA Championships.
Hogue served in the Hawai‘i State Senate from 2000-06 before running for the U.S. Congress.
He currently writes a weekly sports column for popular MidWeek Magazine, and writes free-lance for several other magazines. He has four children - Jesica, Becky, Amanda, and Jeff - and resides in Honolulu.
Tom Di Camillo joined the PacWest Conference as the league's
sports information director in September of 2006. He was promoted
to assistant commissioner, media relations, in early 2008.
Di Camillo's responsibility includes publicizing and coordinating information on the PacWest's 11 sports and eight schools. He also assists Commissioner Bob Hogue as assigned. In 2008, the conference began baseball as an awards and statistics league in the sport of baseball at his encouragement.
Di Camillo is part-time with the PacWest and serves as the full-time media relations officer at Central Arizona College where he is responsible for publicizing the institution's nine campuses and centers that are located throughout Pinal County. He arrived at CAC in January of 2007.
For more than 16 years Di Camillo coordinated all of the publicity for West Chester University's 24-sport varsity athletic program as the Pennsylvania institution's sports information director.
He has been a sports information director at the NCAA Division II level for nearly two decades.
Di Camillo's dedication to the profession, passion for Division II, and commitment to CoSIDA began in September of 1990 when he was named the director of sports information at his alma mater, at the age of 25.
As the SID at West Chester, Di Camillo was a one-person shop coordinating publicity for the second-largest NCAA Division II program in the nation. He was a founding organizer of the West Chester University Athletic Hall of Fame, taking a lead role in guiding its growth from its inception.
Di Camillo also developed, managed and actually broadcast an extensive schedule of athletic events over the Internet and on local radio of a variety of Golden Ram athletic events, including football, basketball, baseball, soccer and lacrosse. He also oversaw the redesign of the athletic logos and developed extensive e-mail distribution lists for the media and alumni to promote Golden Ram athletics.
While at West Chester, Di Camillo had the opportunity to host numerous NCAA II post-season events, including the NCAA Division II Lacrosse National Championship.
He is most proud of his student employees who created careers in the sports industry - Meaghann Schulte, formerly the assistant director of the Big 5; Dan Drutz, the assistant athletic director for media relations at Saint Peters (NJ); Tom Machamer, the assistant athletic director at Immaculata (Pa.) University; Sean Kane, a senior producer at Comcast Sports in Philadelphia; Leigh Matejkovic, the SID at Neumann (Pa.) College; Alison Luberski, formerly the assistant SID at American University in Washington, D.C.; and Michele Greth, former publicist for NASCAR drivers Sterling Marlin and Ryan Newman.
Di Camillo's commitment and belief in Division II athletics led to his developing the first e-mail distribution list for Division II sports information directors. He also created the first Division II Football Press Box List as a way to promote Division II football.
For more than a decade Di Camillo coordinated the annual Division II Sports Information Directors meeting at CoSIDA. The CoSIDA Board recognized his leadership skills and appointment him to a one-year term on the board as a College Division Representative in 2002-03. He then was chosen for a full three-year term from 2004-06.
Di Camillo has won several CoSIDA Writing Awards and served on the Workshop Committee Program for nearly a decade. From August of 2000 until June of 2006, Di Camillo was a part-time sports writer for Engle Publishing & Printing in Lancaster, PA, producing five weekly columns on high school athletic events in the region.
He also co-hosted the Chester County Sports Corner and served as the host of The Bill Zwaan Coach's Show on 1420 AM WCOJ in Chester County, Pa.
From September of 1989 until arriving at West Chester University in September of 1990, Di Camillo was the sports editor for the Coatesville Record, a 7,000-circulation daily newspaper in Coatesville, Pa.
On July 2, 2008, in Tampa, Fla., Di Camillo will receive the Warren Berg Award, presented annually to a College Division member of CoSIDA who has made an outstanding contribution to the field of college sports information, and who by his or her activities, has brought dignity and prestige to the profession.
The College Division consists of Division II, Division III, NAIA, junior colleges and Canadian schools. A similar award is presented to the University Division which consists of NCAA Division I programs.
The Warren Berg Award is the highest award in the nation for the sports information profession.
A native of the Philadelphia area, Di Camillo currently resides in Arizona with his wife, Lynette, and daughter, McKenna.
