- hit .429 (6 for 14) in four starts vs. Grand
Canyon...scored eight runs, doubled five times and produced five
RBI...had a stolen base, walked and punched up a .786 slugging
rate...registered a .438 on-base mark.
Klint Anderson (photo) - Dixie State (Sr., OF, 6-1, 175, L/L, Richfield, UT/Emery) - batted .500 (9 for 18) in four starts vs. Grand Canyon...scored six runs, drove in three and doubled once...walked three times, reached base on a HBP and registered a .556 slugging percentage and a .591 on-base mark.
Joe Davis - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., P, 6-2, 205, R/R, Rochester, NY/McQuaid Jesuit) - earned a victory over HPU in final weekend of the season...tossed a complete game, giving up one earned run on seven hits with nine strikeouts in nine innings.
Matt Fox - Grand Canyon (Jr., 3B, 6-3, 230, R/R, Yuma, AZ/Kofa) - batted .471 in four starts vs. Dixie State to close out the 2008 campaign...was 8 for 17 with five runs, four doubles, six RBI and a .706 slugging mark...also boasted a .500 on-base rate.
Shane Kessel (photo) - Hawai‘i Hilo (So., IF, 6-3, 185, R/R,
Olympia, WA/North Thurston) - hit 429 in five starts
during regular-season finale vs. HPU...was 6 for 14 with two runs,
a double, one RBI, two walks and a .500 slugging rate...also had a
.500 on-base mark.
Nick Lowery - Grand Canyon (Sr., P, 5-11, 200, R/R, Scottsdale, AZ/Horizon) - pitched a complete-game, nine-inning victory in Grand Canyon's 9-3 victory over Dixie State on May 1...allowed two earned runs and scattered seven hits while striking out six...also ripped a double during the week.
Blake Mickelson - Dixie State (Sr., C, 5-11, 190, L/R, St. George, UT/Snow Canyon) - hit 471 in four starts vs. Grand Canyon to wrap up 2008...was 8 for 17 with five runs, two doubles, one homer and five RBI...had a .765 slugging mark...boasted a 500 on-base rate.
Paul Nishimura (photo) - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., OF, 6-1, 175,
R/R, Kahalu‘u, HI/Roosevelt) - hit 412 (7 for
17) in five starts vs. the Vulcans of UHH...scored a run, doubled,
tripled and posted four RBI...had a .588 slugging rate and a .444
on-base mark.
Kyle Pratt - Dixie State (Sr., SS, 6-1, 200, R/R, Tooele, UT/Tooele) - batted .438 in four starts by going 7 for 16...scored five times...doubled, homered and drove in four runs...walked four times...had a .688 slugging mark and a .550 on-base rate.
John Stanko - Grand Canyon (So., OF/1B, 6-0, 200, R/R, Mesa, AZ/Desert Ridge) - hit .556 in four games and two starts by going 5 for 9...doubled twice, scored two runs and drove in one...walked once and posted a .600 on-base mark...had a .778 slugging rate.
