HPU blasts Puerto Rico Bayamon 20-5 in Game 2 of the PacWest LWS

St. GEORGE, UT - Hawaii Pacific exploded for 20 runs, including nine in the top of the fourth, in a 20-5 rout of Puerto Rico Bayamon Wednesday afternoon in Game 2 of the Pacific West Conference Little World Series.

The four-day Division II baseball tournament is being hosted by Dixie State College in St. George, UT. The victory pushes the Sea Warriors into a showdown with Grand Canyon on Thursday at 3 p.m.

The game ended after seven innings under the 10-run mercy rule.

HPU's Aaron Asher (right) was 2 for 4 in the game with two RBI, four runs scored and a home run, while PacWest leading hitter Cheynne Hirota had a triple and three RBI.

Derek Grace and Lester Akeo each had two base hits and three runs scored, while Akeo knocked in a pair of runs. Sean Winston led the Sea Warriors with three base hits in the game. He went 3 for 4 with three runs scored and one RBI.

Caelan O'Meara earned the victory, tossing four innings of solid ball. He struck out seven, scattered five hits and allowed one earned run.

UPR-Bayamon's Luis Santiago was 3 for 3 with two RBI, while Roberto Narvaes went 2 for 3 and Joeseph Negron was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
