Grand Canyon strikes early, rolls by Hawaii Pacific 19-7 in PacWest LWS

St. GEORGE, UT - Grand Canyon exploded for 14 runs in the first two innings in beating Hawaii Pacific 19-7 on Thursday afternoon, advancing another step toward the Pacific West Conference Little World Series.

The Antelopes will play Dixie State on Thursday night at 7 p.m. for a berth in the LWS Championship Saturday night at 7 p.m. Hawaii Pacific will battle the winner of UPR-Bayamon vs. UPR-Rio Piedras in the losers' bracket on Friday, May 8, at 7 p.m.

The four-day Division II baseball tournament is being hosted by Dixie State College in St. George, UT.

Joey Jacobson was 3 for 3 with three runs scored, five RBI, a home run and a double, and Matt Fox went 3 for 3 with three runs, one RBI and two doubles.

Jeff Mutchler, Jay Green and Tyler Bair each ripped three base hits in the contest. Mutchler went 3 for 5 with three runs scored and two RBI, while Green was 3 for 5 with two runs scored and one RBI. Bair was 3 for 5 with two RBI and a run.

Mark Hardy tossed a complete game for the Antelopes, striking out five while allowing just three earned runs.

Blake Amaral went 2 for 4 for the Sea Warriors and Cheynne Hirota was 2 for 4 with two runs scored, two RBI and a home run.
