Brett Adams Dixie State selected to repeat as PacWest Champions

PHOENIX, AZ - Dixie State College received four first-place votes and has been selected to repeat as the Pacific West Conference Champion in 2010, while Red Storm senior OF Brett Adams (Sandy, UT/Alta) has been chosen as the 2010 PacWest Preseason Player of the Year.

The honors were announced on Monday, Feb. 1, during the PacWest Baseball Media Day and were voted upon by the head coaches of the conference. The PacWest Baseball Media Day can be heard on PacWest Magazine Radio or on Red Zone Media (www.redzonemedia.com).

In addition to Adams, Hawai‘i Pacific senior pitcher Caelan O'Meara (Santa Rosa, CA/Santa Rosa) has been tabbed as the PacWest Preseason Pitcher of the Year.

Dixie State won the inaugural PacWest Championship in 2009 after posting a 15-9 mark during the league's 24-game schedule and an overall record of 33-19.

Caelan O'Meara While the Red Storm was picked to retain its 2009 title, Grand Canyon and Hawai‘i Pacific shared the honor of finishing runner-up. The Sea Warriors were 14-10 in conference action and 30-19 overall, falling just a game behind Dixie State for the PacWest crown. Grand Canyon wound up 8-16 in the PacWest and 17-38 overall in 2009, but the Antelopes managed to secure at least one first-place vote for 2010.

Hawai‘i Hilo was picked to finish fourth in the conference after turning in an 11-13 PacWest mark and a 20-21 overall record in 2009, while Academy of Art was projected to end up fifth as the Urban Knights begin their first season of league play.
