Ryan Cooper earns weekly PacWest honor 

QUEEN CREEK, AZ - Notre Dame de Namur senior point guard Ryan Cooper (San Jose, CA/Piedmont Hills) has been chosen the PacWest Player of the Week.

The honor is for games contested from Jan. 21-27.

Cooper led the Argos to a 2-1 week by averaging 20.7 points per game while shooting 51.4% from the field (19 for 37). He ranked second in the league in scoring and third in assists per game (5.67) for the week.

Cooper also doled out 17 assists over the three games, was perfect from the foul line (14 for 14) and made 10 of 19 three-point attempts (52.6%). He averaged 3.33 three-pointers made per game and posted a 2.83 assist/turnover ratio for the week.

PacWest Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll

Trenson Akana (Kaunakaka‘i, HI/Moloka‘i) - The junior guard from BYU-Hawaii averaged 22.5 points per game to lead the PacWest for the week. He shot 68.4% from the field (13 for 19), made 12 of 15 free throw attempts (80%), and connected on 7 of 12 three-pointers (58.3%).

Vince Alvarado (Victorville, CA/Silverado) - The senior guard from Hawai‘i Hilo averaged 15.0 points and 3.33 assists per game while shooting 51.6% from the field.

Chris Edwards (San Francisco, CA/Jefferson) - The senior center for Notre Dame de Namur averaged 11.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game while shooting 53.3% from the field. He also doled out 2.33 assists per game to go along his 2.67 blocks per game average.

Ben Hartman (Santa Clara, UT/Snow Canyon) - The junior guard from Dixie State had a strong all-around week, averaging 14.7 points per game while shooting 56.0% from the field (14 for 25). He also averaged 4.7 rebounds and 1.67 assists per game while connecting on 50% of this three-point attempts (4 for 8). He shot 85.7% from the foul line (12 for 14).

Hayden Heiber (Red Bluff, CA/Red Bluff) - The senior guard from Chaminade averaged double-digit helpers at Grand Canyon during the week, handing out 10.5 assists per game. He also averaged 4.5 rebounds, 8.5 points, 3.5 steals and a 3.50 assist/turnover ratio.

Marko Kolaric (Novi Sad, Serbia) - Chaminade's senior forward (in photo) averaged 12.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game as the Silverswords swept Grand Canyon in Phoenix.

Stuart Kussler (Santa Maria, CA/St. Joseph) - The senior forward from Chaminade made 11 of 16 field goal attempts to shoot 68.8% for the week. He also averaged 13.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game during the week. His biggest play was a game-winning three-pointer falling out of bounds from the right corner as time expired on Friday night at Grand Canyon.

Ty Morrison (Phoenix, AZ/Trevor Browne) - Despite Grand Canyon going 1-2 for the week, the junior averaged 19.7 points per game (3rd in the PacWest) by shooting 57.8% from the field (26 for 45).

Justonn Smith (Redwood City, CA/Woodside) - Hawai‘i Pacific's junior guard led the Sea Warriors in scoring (16.5 ppg.), rebounding (6.0 rpg.) and shooting (61.1%) last week. He also made 10 of 12 free throw attempts (83.3%).

Kasey Winters (Mesquite, NV/Virgin Valley) - The senior center (in photo) led Dixie State to a 2-1 week, including a victory over BYU-Hawaii. He averaged 19.0 points and 9.3 rebounds per game while also shooting 64.7% (22 for 34) from the field. He also averaged 2.33 blocks per game over the three contests.
