Kussler leads Chaminade to conference title, earns PacWest award

QUEEN CREEK, AZ - Chaminade senior forward Stewart Kussler (Santa Maria, CA/St. Joseph) has been chosen the PacWest Player of the Week for the second time this year.

The honor is for games contested from Feb. 18-24.

Kussler led the Silverswords to the PacWest title by averaging 18.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game as CUH posted a 2-0 week.

He shot 63.4% from the field after making 18 of 28 field goal attempts.

   

PacWest Men's Basketball Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll  

Lucas Alves (Casa Branca, Brazil/Colegio Avanqo Ensino Progranado) - The BYU -Hawaii sophomore center averaged 19.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest over two games last week as the Seasiders registered a 1-1 record...shot 64.0% from the field after making 16 of 25 field goal attempts.

Rudy Bogan (Glendale, AZ/Thornwood - photo) - The Grand Canyon senior forward topped the PacWest in three-pointers for the week by making nine...averaged 21.0 points and 6.0 rebounds over two games for the Antelopes...shot 50.0% from beyond the arc (9 for 18).

Rashad Bilal (White Plains, NY/Edison) - A senior guard at Hawai‘i Hilo, Bilal scored 15 points and doled out seven assists in a loss to PacWest Champion Chaminade.

Landon Clegg (Cedar Hills, UT/Lone Peak) - The Dixie State freshman guard had a break-out week by averaging 18.3 points per game over a three-contest stretch for the Rebels in Hawai‘i...topped the PacWest in three-point shooting at 80.0% after draining 8 of 10 shots from beyond the arc...was perfect from the foul line (9 for 9)...averaged 1.67 steals and 2.67 three-pointers made per game.

Chris Clock (Los Gatos, CA/Los Gatos) - The Notre Dame de Namur senior guard scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds in a win over Grand Canyon on Saturday night...hit a pair of three-pointers in the victory.

Jason Curtis (Landover, MD/Du Val - photo) - The Hawai‘i Pacific junior guard averaged 18.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game as the Sea Warriors split a pair of games with Dixie State...he hit four three-pointers and averaged 4.00 assists per game.

Rodrick Johnson (Anaheim, CA/Canyon Springs) - The Chaminade junior forward helped guide the Silverswords to the PacWest Championship by averaging 14.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game last week.

Rishi Kakad (Phoenix, AZ/Horizon) - The Hawai‘i Pacific sophomore guard led the Sea Warriors to a 1-1 week by averaging 25.5 points per game...he was phenomenal from the foul line, hitting all 23 of his attempts.

Marko Kolaric (Novi Sad, Serbia) - The senior center from Chaminade put back an offensive rebound as time expired on Saturday, giving the Silverswords a 67-65 victory over BYU-Hawaii and the PacWest Championship...averaged 14.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game in two victories last week.

Kasey Winters (Mesquite, NV/Virgin Valley) - The Dixie State senior center averaged 12.7 points and 10.0 rebounds per contest over three games in Hawai‘i last week.
