BYU-Hawaii ranked 7th in NABC/Division II

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Seattle Pacific's win over top-ranked BYU-Hawaii, along with losses by three other teams in last week's top 10, has created a significant change at the top end of the new NABC/Division II coaches poll, as Central Missouri has moved to the top spot in the national rankings for the first time since 1980.

The Mules, currently 6-0 on the season, took over the top spot after Seattle Pacific beat BYU-Hawaii 78-72 Saturday in Seattle.  UCM is followed in the rankings by Valdosta State; however, the Blazers' loss Monday to Columbus State was not reflected in the rankings as only the results through Sunday's play are considered.  Florida Southern and Augusta State also moved up one spot apiece to third and fourth, respectively, while Indiana (Pa.) takes over the fifth spot in the rankings.

Bentley is sixth this week and BYU-Hawaii fell to seventh after its loss Saturday.  The rest of the top 10 is occupied by Kutztown, Rollins and Arkansas Tech, who at 7-0 is off to its best start since the 1963-64 campaign.

Drury checks in at No. 11 this week while Seattle Pacific vaulted six spots with its win to the No. 12 position.  Southwest Baptist fell to 13th, while Minnesota State and Metropolitan State picked up impressive league wins at home to move up to 14th and 15th this week.

Cal Poly Pomona remains at No.16 this week, while Winona State moved up to No. 17 after a week that included a road victory over then-No. 19 St. Cloud State.  Georgia College & State (whose loss Monday is not reflected in the rankings) checks in at No. 18, followed by undefeated Midwestern State and Southern Indiana, the highest ranked newcomer in this week's poll.

Southwest Minnesota State is ranked No. 21 and the balance of the poll is made up of newcomers to the Top 25.  Fort Hays State - whose only setback was a seven-point loss at Kansas State - also enters the rankings at No. 22 as does Western Washington at No. 23; the top 25 is rounded out by West Liberty and Kentucky Wesleyan.
