Antonio takes credit for Fresno Pacific’s first PacWest Men’s Basketball Player of Week honor
PHOENIX, Ariz. – Fresno Pacific senior center Antonio Credit (Flint, MI/West Bloomfield) has been named the Pacific West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
The conference announced the award on Monday, Jan. 21, for games played Jan. 14-20. It marks the first Sunbird to garner the award.
Credit led Fresno Pacific to a 2-0 week with key victories over Chaminade and Hawai'i Hilo. The Sunbirds have won four straight and 7 of 9 contests.
While FPU had numerous players contribute in the wins during the week, it was Credit's presence around the offensive and defensive rims that was so dominating.
He averaged a double-double by posting 16.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game – ranking ninth in scoring and tying for third in collecting caroms for the week in the PacWest. He led the PacWest in defensive rebounding, inhaling 8.0 per game while eliminating second-chance opportunities for the opposition.
But it was his shooting percentage that was stunning. Credit converted 15 of 18 field goal attempts for a phenomenal 83.3%, scoring all but three of 33 points from the field.
