Spencer Deavila earns PacWest Weekly honor

PHOENIX, AZ - BYU-Hawaii junior Spencer Deavila (Mesa, AZ/Highland) has been selected the Pacific West Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second time this season.

He previously won the award on Sept. 28 for his performance at the Chaminade Invitational.

The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Oct. 12, for races contested on Oct. 9 & 10.

Deavila captured the 2009 University of Hawai‘i at Hilo 6K Invitational on Oct. 10 by completing the course in a time of 20:45. He was the only sub-21:00 runner in the event and led BYU-Hawaii to a first-place team finish.

Stefano Barbis Rochabrun (right) - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 5-10, N/A, Hilo, HI/Hilo)...finished fourth among runners from four-year schools at the 2009 UHH Invitational on Oct. 10...posted a time of 21:31...was first among all Vulcan participants...led UHH to a third-place team finish.

Kevin Enriques - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., 5-8, 140, Honolulu, HI/Education Lab)...placed eighth among four-year runners and second among Sea Warrior entries at the 2009 UHH Invitational on Oct. 10...covered the 6K course in 21.44...led HPU to a second-place team finish.

Luke Graesser - BYU-Hawaii (So., 6-1, 154, Spokane, WA/North Central)...registered a time of 21.41 to claim seventh place among four-year runners at the UHH Invitational on Oct. 10...finished fourth among Seasider competitors...helped lead the Seasiders to a first-place finish on the 6K course.

Brandon Krout (left) - BYU-Hawaii (Jr., 5-11, 175, Vancouver, WA/Prarie)...registered a time of 21.37 to take fifth among four-year runners at the UHH Invitational on Oct. 10...finished third among Seasider entries on the 6K course.

Chris Lewis - Grand Canyon (Fr., 5-10, 135, Peoria, AZ/Raymond S. Kellis)...finished 18th among eligible runners from four-year schools and first among Grand Canyon entries at the Triton XC Classic on Oct. 10 at UC San Diego...posted a time of 35:09.1 on the 10K course.

Dany Malley - Hawai‘i Pacific (So., 5-7, 140, Mississaugua, Ontario, Canada/St. Famille Secondary)...placed 2nd overall and first among HPU runners at the 2009 UHH Invitational on Oct. 10...recorded a time of 21.20 on the 6K course...helped lead the Sea Warriors to a second-place team finish.

Daveson Marindich - Academy of Art (So., 5-9, 120, Eldoret, Kenya)...finished fourth at the San Francisco State Invitational on Oct. 9...recorded a time of 25:31.8 on the 8K course...placed first among Urban Knight runners.

Garrett McAllister - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 6-0, N/A, Los Alamitos, CA/Los Alamitos)...completed the 6K course at the UHH Invitational in 21.51...finished ninth among runners representing four-year schools...wound up third among Vulcan entries...helped UHH take third place in the race held on Oct. 10.

Brendan McMaster - BYU-Hawaii (Sr., 5-11, 145, Tempe, AZ/Corona Del Sol)...finished third among all runners and second on the BYU-Hawaii squad at the 2009 UHH Invitational on Oct. 10...recorded a time of 21.21 on the 6K course...helped BYU-Hawaii take first place in the competition.

Keoni Ucker - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., 6-3, N/A, Pahoa, HI/Christian Liberty Academy)...posted a time of 21:38 on the 6K course during the UHH Invitational on Oct. 10...finished second among Vulcan runners and sixth among four-year competitors...helped UHH take third place in the event.
