GCU's Randi Johns, Dixie State's Brittnie Whipple garner weekly awards
QUEEN CREEK, AZ - Grand Canyon senior 1B Randi
Johns (Waddell, AZ/Millennium) and Dixie
State sophomore hurler Brittnie Whipple (Moab,
UT/Grand) earned the Pacific West Conference's
respective Player and Pitcher of the Week award.
Player of the Week (Feb. 9-15) - Randi Johns - Grand Canyon (Sr., 1B, R/R, 5-7, Waddell, AZ/Millennium) - hit .529 with 14 RBI and seven runs scored in eight games...was 9 for 17 with two doubles and two home runs...produced a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .643 slugging rate...also drew eight walks.
Pitcher of the Week (Feb. 9-15) - Brittnie Whipple - Dixie State (So., R/R, 5-7, Moab, UT/Grand)...registered a 3-1 record with one save in six appearances...produced a 2.74 ERA...recorded 16 strikeouts in 15.1 innings of work...walked just four batters and allowed opponents a .186 batting average.

Lindsay Christ (photo) - NDNU (Sr., OF, R/R, 5-6, Orting,
WA/Summer) - hit .500 in four games for the
Argos...was 7 for 14 with three runs scored, five RBI, one double
and two triples...posted an .857 slugging mark and a .500 on-base
average.
Bailie Hicken - Dixie State (Fr., OF, R/R, 5-4, Cedar Hills, UT/Lone Peak) - batted .500 in seven starts for the Red Storm...was 9 for 18 with six runs scored, one RBI and four walks...converted 9 of 11 stolen base attempts...recorded a .500 slugging mark and a .591 on-base rate.
Kara Holtorf - Grand Canyon (Fr., OF, L/R, 5-7, Peoria, AZ/Sunrise Mountain) - produced the most base hits during the week in the PacWest...fininshed the seven-day stretch with a .500 batting average...went 13 for 26 with nine runs scored, seven RBI and one triple...had a .577 slugging percentage and a .519 on-base rate...was 2 for 2 in stolen base attempts.
Maile Kim - Hawai‘i Pacific (Fr., UT, R/R, 5-3, Salinas, CA/Notre Dame) - posted a .545 batting average in four starts...went 6 for 11 with two runs scored, one double and five RBI...had a .636 slugging rate and a .500 on-base percentage.
Nicole Lorenzi - Grand Canyon (Jr., OF, L/R, 5-3, Phoenix, AZ/Horizon) - batted .818 in six games for the Antelopes...went 9 for 11 with nine runs scored and two RBI...walked three times...churned out an .818 slugging percentage and an .857 on-base mark.
Tracy Lubken - Grand Canyon (Jr., OF, L/R, 5-4, Scottsdale, AZ/Horizon) - hit .529 in six starts for the Antelopes...was 9 for 17 with seven runs scored, 12 RBI, a double and a home run...recorded a .765 slugging percentage and a .556 on-base rate.
Michele McMahon - NDNU (Jr., P, R/R, 5-4, San Francisco/Unavailable) - recorded a 2-0 mark with a 1.50 ERA...tossed a pair of complete games...allowed 10 hits over 14 innings with 10 strikeouts...permitted a .208 batting average.
Sherise Musquiz - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., P, R/R, 6-0, Pico Rivera, CA/El Rancho) - produced a 2-0 mark in two starts with a pair of complete games...recorded a shutout...tossed 12 innings, allowing five hits and one earned run...struck out three...permitted a .122 batting average.
Krystal Plunkett (photo left) - Hawai‘i Pacific (Sr., SS,
R/R, 5-6,
Pearl City, HI/Pearl City) - hit .692 in four starts
for the Sea Warriors...went 9 for 13 with two runs scored, one
double and one triple...had a .923 slugging rate and a .692 on-base
mark.
Haley Schumers (photo right) - Dixie State (Sr., P/3B, R/R, 5-7, Plain City, UT/Fremont) - recorded a 2-0 record in two starts...tossed eight innings and turned in a 3.50 ERA...struck out 14 batters and allowed just four earned runs...on offense contributed a .353 batting average with five runs scored, one homer and three RBI...walked eight times...was 6 for 17...produced a .529 slugging rate and a .560 on-base mark.
