Hawai‘i Hilo's Nesha Kimtete chosen for PacWest Women's
Basketball Player of the Week
QUEEN CREEK, AZ - Hawai‘i Hilo junior guard Nesha Kimtete (Kailua-Kona, HI/Konawaena) has been chosen the PacWest Player of the Week.
The honor is for games contested from Feb. 4-10.
Kimtete led the Vulcans to a 2-0 week by averaging 18.5 points per game. She shot 70% from the field (14 for 20) while also averaging 4.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 3.5 three-pointers made and 3.5 steals per contest.
She hit 7 of 12 shots from beyond the arc (58.3%) over the two-game stretch.
PacWest Womens Basketball Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll
Jessica Carver (Layton, UT/Layton) - The Dixie State junior forward scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in the Rebels' loss on Saturday at Grand Canyon. It was the lone game of the week for Dixie State.
Simrin Herington (Eugene, OR/North Eugene -
photo) - The former Ms. Cummins, who was married less
than two weeks ago, celebrated her nuptials by ripping opponents
for 14.0 points and 4.53 rebounds per game despite Chaminade
posting an 0-3 mark. She was brilliant at the foul line, connecting
on 16 of 18 attempts (88.9%).
Ashley Jenkins (Ft. Washington, MD/Stephenson) - The senior guard from Hawai‘i Pacific scored 21 points and had three steals in the Sea Warriors' 81-67 victory over BYU-Hawaii.
Madison Kite (Windermere, FL/Olympia) - The freshman forward from BYU-Hawaii posted a break-out week for the Seasiders after she averaged 14.5 points and 10.0 rebounds over two games. She shot 50.0% from the field (12 of 24), averaged 2.00 steals per game, and was dominating on the offensive glass where she totaled a dozen rebounds in two contests.
Samantha Murphy (Phoenix, AZ/Xavier Prep) - The freshman guard averaged 15.7 points and 4.0 steals per game for Grand Canyon last week.
Rosalyn Nelson (Phoenix, AZ/Deer Valley) - Despite a 1-2 week, the sophomore guard led Grand Canyon by averaging 13.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. She also topped the PacWest in assists (5.67) and steals (4.00) per game for the week.
Samantha Nordstrom (Redmond, OR/Redmond - photo) -
The sophomore shot 68.8% from the field by making 11 of 16 baskets
over two games to lead Hawai‘i Hilo. She
averaged 14.5 points per game and made 7 of 8 free throw attempts
(87.5%).
Angela Spence (Carpinteria, CA/Santa Barbara) - The Hawai‘i Pacific junior center scored 17 points by shooting 70.0% (7 for 10) from the field on Saturday in a win over BYU-Hawaii. She also grabbed four defensive rebounds and blocked two shots in the victory.
Agnes Tuilevuka (Suva, Fiji) - Led BYU-Hawaii to a 1-1 week by averaging 17.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 3.0 steals per contest.
Ashley Wilson (San Diego, CA/Cal Lutheran) - The Notre Dame de Namur junior guard averaged 14.5 points per game as the Argos traveled to Phoenix and split with first-place Grand Canyon. She shot 45.0% from beyond the arc by making 9 of 20 three-point attempts.
