California Baptist junior Myriah Hicks selected PacWest Women’s Basketball Player of Week

PHOENIX, AZ - California Baptist junior guard Myriah Hicks (Springfield, MO/Central) has been selected the Pacific West Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Jan. 2, for games contested Dec. 26-Jan. 1.

Hicks led the Lancers to a 3-0 week in Las Vegas by averaging 13.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 3.0 steals per game.

She made 19 of 28 free throw attempts (67.9%) and helped California Baptist run its winning streak to eight consecutive games.

Kellene Costello - Chaminade (Sr., 5-7, G, Wixom, MI/Walled Lake Central)...totaled 12 points after making all four three-point attempts in 77-57 loss vs. Lindenwood (MO) on Dec. 30 - the lone game of the week for the Silverswords...also shot 80.0% (4 for 5) from the field.

Hillary Hurley - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 6-2, F, Anderson, CA/Enterprise)...scored 15 points and inhaled 15 rebounds in lone game of the week - a 56-43 victory over Lindenwood (MO) on Dec. 29...shot 57.1% (4 for 7) from the field...made 7 of 10 (70.0%) attempts from the line...also blocked two shots.

Alexis Johnson - California Baptist (Sr., 6-1, C, Murrieta, CA/Calvary Chapel Murrieta)...helped lead the Lancers to a 3-0 week in Las Vegas...averaged 6.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest.

Brittney Lewis - California Baptist (Jr., 5-9, G/F, Rancho Cucamonga, CA/Etiwanda)...had 12.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game during a 3-0 week in Las Vegas...shot 81.8% (9 for 11) from the line...also averaged 1.7 steals per contest.

Marlee Rice - California Baptist (Sr., 5-5, G, Venice Beach, CA/Venice)...averaged 11.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.3 three-pointers made per game during a 3-0 week for the Lancers in Las Vegas...shot 52.4% (11 for 21) from the field and 50.0% (7 for 14) from beyond the arc.

Elise Spain - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., 5-10, F, Fremont, CA/Newark Memorial)...outstanding on defense in lone game of the week for Vulcans - a 56-43 victory over Lindenwood (MO) on Dec. 29...pulled down 11 boards - nine on the defensive end...also had a steal and a blocked shot in the win.

Kayla Valentine - Dominican (CA) (So., 5-6, G, Chino, CA/Don Lugo)...scored 17 points while shooting 66.7% (6 for 9) from the field in lone game of the week - a 66-45 loss vs. Division I Brown on Dec. 29...also went 3 for 4 (75.0%) from the line.

Hotia Vaaimamao - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., 5-10, F, Kahului, HI/Maui)...scored 10 points and collected three rebounds in lone game of the week - a 56-43 victory over Lindenwood (MO) on Dec. 29...shot 60.0% (3 for 5) from the field...went 4 for 4 from the line.
