Kelly White's defense provides UHH with two wins, Player of the Week honor

QUEEN CREEK, AZ - Dominated by athletes with offensive numbers, Hawai‘i Hilo sophomore defensive center midfielder Kelly White (Santa Barbara, CA/San Marcos) was named the PacWest Women's Soccer Player of the Week for her stellar play in two shutouts last week...she is the anchor of the Vulcan defense which has now kept opponents scoreless for more than 300 minutes...she led UHH to a 2-0 win over Chaminade and set up the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over first-place BYU-Hawai‘i...the UHH defense has allowed just one shot on goal in two games last week...the Vulcans are the last PacWest team with an unbeaten league record.

UHH win over BYU-Hawai‘i leaves one unbeaten

QUEEN CREEK, AZ - BYU-Hawai‘i may hold first place on points, but the Vulcans of Hawai‘i Hilo scored their biggest victory of the season by beating the Seasiders 1-0 on October 4.

That victory coupled with a 2-0 blanking of Chaminade has kept UHH undefeated in PacWest action and pushed the Vulcans to a three-game winning streak.

Freshman Lacey Schreiner (Enumclaw, WA/Enumclaw) couldn't have picked a better time to score her first career goal as she took a feed from Kelly White (Santa Barbara, CA/San Marcos) and buried home the winning score vs. BYU-Hawai‘i.

The Vulcans travel to the Mainland this week for three PacWest games in five days that could define their season.

BYU-Hawai‘i, meanwhile, has the week off and still holds a six-point lead over the Vulcans. The Seasiders are led by senior Jill Haar (Diamond Bar, CA/Walnut - PHOTO) who is tied for second in the PacWest in scoring (20 points), and ranked third in points per game (1.43), goals per game (0.57), and goals scored (8). She is also tied for second in assists (4) and is ranked fifth in assists per game (0.29).

Dixie State's Mikala Wilkes (Cedar Hills, UT/Lone Peak) continues to dominate the PacWest in scoring (23), points per game (2.09), goals (10) and goals per game (0.91). She scored the game's first goal against Division I Utah Valley State before freshman teammate Erika Mouritsen (Wellsville, UT/Mountain Crest) snapped a 1-1 draw in the 78th minute.

One team the PacWest should not dismiss is reigning champ NDNU. The Argonauts beat Grand Canyon in overtime by rallying twice from one-goal deficits.

Seniors Ashlee Hinojosa (Canyon Lake, CA/Temescal Canyon) and Erin Morrison (Park City, UT/Judge Memorial Catholic) each made strong cases for Athlete of the Week honors in the victory.

Morrison had a goal and two assists, setting up Hinojosa first with the tying goal and then with the winner in overtime.

GCU rookies Amanda Attaway (Maple Valley, WA/Kentlake) and Olivia Draper (Denver, CO/Ponderosa) each scored their first career goals vs. NDNU.

Ashley Dolan (Honolulu, HI/Moanalua) and Tatiana Tibbits (Kapolei, HI/Kapolei) each scored twice in HPU's 5-0 win over Chaminade.
