Dixie State's Erika Mouritsen claims first PacWest Honor

QUEEN CREEK, AZ - Dixie State sophomore forward Erika Mouritsen (Wellsville, UT/Mountain Crest) jumped out to the conference scoring lead by posting 16 points in her first four games to claim the first Pacific West Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week award of 2008.

The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Queen Creek, AZ, on Tuesday, Sept., 9, for games played from Aug. 28 through Sept. 7.

Mouritsen scored four goals and chipped in a pair of assists to lead the Rebels to a 2-1-1 start. She leads the league in goals and points, shares the lead in assists, and tops the conference in both points (2.50) and goals per game (1.00).

 
PacWest Weekly Top 10 Women's Soccer Honor Roll

Sarah Biser - Notre Dame de Namur (Fr., M, 5-7, Newark, CA/Newark Memorial)...scored four goals for eight points during opening week...averaged 2.00 points and 1.00 goals per game...blasted one game-winner...shared the league lead in goals for the week.

Shanna Brown - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., GK, 5-9, Fairbanks, AK/Lathrop)...despite an 0-2 record she has posted a 1.39 goals against average and leads the league in saves with 21...she also tops the conference in save percentage (84.0%) and ranks second in saves per game (5.25).

Marissa Faye (photo) - Chaminade (Sr., D, 5-4, Waimea, HI)...scored an unassisted game-winning goal in the 99th minute to lift Chaminade to a 2-1 victory over HPU...has two goals and four points on the season in two games...averaging 2.00 points per game.

Emily Mearns - BYU-Hawaii (So., F, 5-6, San Ramon, CA/California)...registered six points on two goals and two assists...averged 2.00 points per game...leads PacWest in assists per game (0.67)...tallied game-winner vs. Texas Permian Basin...finished contest with two goals and one assist.

Karley Nelson - Grand Canyon (Jr., M, 5-7, Orem, UT/Timpanogos)...ranked fifth in the PacWest in scoring with five points...boasts two goals and one assist...had a goal and an assist vs. St. Mary's on Aug. 31.

Megan Pachecano - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., F, 5-2, Pahoa, HI/Woodland)...scored twice vs. Cal State Monterey Bay, including game-winner...has two goals and four points for the week.

Whitney Reichert - Grand Canyon (So., F, 5-6, Maple Valley, WA/Tahoma)...has two goals and four points...tallied game-winner in 3-2 victory vs. St. Mary's on Aug. 31.

Margaret Sekona - BYU-Hawaii (Fr., F, 5-3, Juneau, AK/Juneau Douglas)...has four points on two goals in the early going...scored game-winner in 1-0 season-opening victory vs. Washburn.

Tonya Smith - Dixie State (Fr., GK, 5-9, Eagle Mountain, UT/Lehi)...posted a 2-0-1 record in net for the Rebels with a league-leading 0.93 goals against average.

Mikala Wilkes (photo) - Dixie State (Jr., M, 5-8, Cedar Hills, UT/Lone Peak)...had eight points on three goals and two assists in four games...averaged 2.00 points per game...tallied one game-winner.
