Stratford claims PacWest Player of Week honor again

QUEEN CREEK, AZ - Dixie State sophomore forward Wendy Stratford (Layton, UT/Layton) led her club to a 2-0 record to earn the Pacific West Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week honor for the second straight week.

The award was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Queen Creek, AZ, on Monday, Oct. 13, for games played from Oct. 6-12.

Stratford finished the week with eight points on four goals. She tallied a hat-trick and the game-winner vs. Mesa State on Oct. 8. She also scored a goal in a 5-0 blanking of the Academy of Art University on Oct. 10.

PacWest Weekly Top 10 Women's Soccer Honor Roll

Vanessa Butin (photo) - Hawai‘i Hilo (Fr., F/M, 5-7, Davis, CA/Davis)...scored two goals, including game-winner, in 2-0 win over Chaminade on Oct. 9.

Veronica Ellman - Hawai‘i Pacific (Jr., GK, Berlin, Germany)...posted a 0.50 goals against average in two games and 180 minutes...recorded a 1-1 record, including a shutout of Chaminade on Oct. 12...totaled seven saves for the week.

April Hansen - Dixie State (Fr., GK, 5-9, American Fork, UT/American Fork)...turned in a 2-0-0 record in two starts this week in net...allowed one goal and produced a 0.50 goals against average...registered a .833 save percentage.

Tami Kalaiwaa - Hawai‘i Pacific (So., M, Kane‘ohe, HI/Castle)...scored game-winning goal during 2-0 victory over Chaminade on Oct. 12.

Adele Letro - Hawai‘i Hilo (Sr., F, 5-8, Davis, CA/Davis)...scored three goals and added an assist for a seven-point week...scored twice with one assist vs. Chaminade on Oct. 8...also scored game-winner.

Emily Mearns - BYU-Hawaii (So., F, 5-6, San Ramon, CA/California)...scored game-winning goal vs. Hawai‘i Pacific on Oct. 9.

Erika Mouritsen - Dixie State (So., F, 5-9, Wellsville, UT/Mountain Crest)...registered three points on the week...posted an assist vs. Mesa State on Oct. 8...scored a goal vs. AAU on Oct. 10.

Megan Pachecano - Hawai‘i Hilo (Jr., F, 5-2, Pahoa, HI/Woodland)...registered eight points as the Vulcans went 3-0 on the week...scored twice, including the game-winner, and added an assist in 4-1 win over BYU-Hawaii on Oct. 11...had a goal and an assist vs. Chaminade on Oct. 9.

Alysia Salvador - Hawai‘i Hilo (Fr., F/M, 5-7, Davis, CA/Davis)...scored two goals in 5-0 win over Chaminade on Oct. 8.

Mikala Wilkes - Dixie State (Jr., M, 5-8, Cedar Hills, UT/Lone Peak)...finished the week with eight points in two games...scored game-winning goal vs. Academy of Art on Oct. 10...tallied three goals and two assists in two Dixie State wins.
