HPU women's tennis falls in quarterfinals

HOUSTON, TX - The Hawai‘i Pacific University women's tennis team fell in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II National Championships on Thursday, losing to Valdosta State by the score of 5-0.

The Lady Sea Warriors' match with the Lady Blazers was the first of the morning. After dropping all three doubles contests, a two-hour rain delay halted play just three games in the first set.

Unfortunately for the Sea Warriors, the rains did not dampen the momentum of the fourth-ranked Lady Blazers, as they captured fifth and sixth singles. Tinka Mihova fell 7-5, 6-3 and Lauren Shin lost 6-0, 6-2, respectively, for the final points.

The exit from the National Tournament quarterfinals marks the second in as many seasons for HPU. The Lady Sea Warriors closed the season 22-8.
