Hawai'i Pacific defeats Hawai'i Hilo 5-2 in PacWest semifinals; sets up showdown for league title vs. BYU-Hawaii on Saturday
ST. GEORGE, UT - Hawai'i Pacific collected three singles matches and a pair of doubles victories to defeat Hawai'i Hilo 5-2 on Friday and advance to the title match of the 2008 Hawaiian Airlines Pacific West Conference Women's Tennis Championship.
The Sea Warriors will battle the Seasiders for PacWest bragging
rights on Saturday morning at approximately 11:30 a.m. The PacWest
Championships are being held at the Green Valley Resort & Spa
in St. George, UT.
Elena Hudzikova and Tinka Mihova each won two matches after claiming fourth and fifth singles, respectively, and teaming up for a victory at third doubles. Lauren Shin won 6-1, 6-2 at sixth singles, while the Sea Warriors held a lead at both second and third singles before the match was halted after HPU clinched the win.
The Vulcans were led by Eve Castaing who won her first singles match and also partnered with Christie Pagatpatan to claim first doubles.
